What a week I've had! I managed to catch a flu which for me has had me bed ridden for the second half of the week. I managed to get out yesterday - long enough to get a doctors script filled then back to bed. This afternoon, I've started to finally feel a bit like myself again!
During this afternoon, between plenty of rest, I spent some quiet time finishing off a couple of Smash pages that I started last Sunday.
For this page, I kept it relatively simple. I recently bought a small pack of gelatos which I'd been dying to play with so I tried these out on this page. They were'nt at all like I expected them to be but I do like the bold, intense colours they provided.
The photo's are of my hubby who managed to do his dream thing of holding an Eagle when we were at the Royal Show. Ever since I've met him, he's wanted to have/hold one of these beauties (since watching movies like Ladyhawke - his absolute favourite) so for him it was a thrill.
My second page also features photos taken because of the Show - well sort of ...
With this page, I kinda played quite a bit!! I enhanced the background by sponging Dylusions inks across the surface, leaving it to dry then stamping a text stamp over this with the Picket Fence Distress paint.
Once the paint dried, I finally stamped the dress form and the pattern instructions onto the two opposing corners using a Sepia tone archival ink. I really wanted to play with the mixed mediums but sadly the papers used to create these books don't really lend themselves to the barrage of mediums I threw at them. I had to stop and dry the pages then flatten with weights each time or the paper curled and warped. For me, I think i will keep these kinds of backgrounds for my art journal!
Inevitably, the background I achieved managed to convey the whimsical feel that I really wanted it to have so - all good in the long run!!
