Frantic Stamper now sells Magnolia Stamps!!

I was super excited when I found this out.  There are some of the latest range already available to purchase but there are also some more coming!!  It feels like Christmas with my two favourites coming together!! 

Anyway. I created this card for the blog sketch last Sunday using some of the new Magnolias that will soon be arriving in store -

The images were all coloured with Distress inks and a waterbrush with some red distress stickles smeared over the castle image to kind of add some glitz.

Johnny Jump-ups Card

I really wanted to share a card I recently created.

I stamped my image onto a sheet of clear plastic and then colored it in using different glitters. I like this technique because it's so different and even better, it's quick!

Once the glitter and the glue are dried, the whole image is turned over and attached to my card so that the glittery part is on the inside and the smooth side is on the outside which means I didn't even have to fuss with making sure I did t color over the lines with the glitter.

Titanic 100th Anniversary

Today is the 100th anniversary of the Titanic disaster and as an act of respect for this sad disaster I decided to create a card in its honour.  

I have been ever so fascinated by this tragic story for a very long time now so it seemed apt to create somethng in its memory.

Its been awhile.  Between school and certain head bump and just living - ive been too busy to get back here!!  However its finally the school holidays and I can breathe and do a few of those things that I love.  But let me first explain exactly what I've been up to ...

During the last week of school for the term I fell/tripped and hit my head on the concrete driveway out front of my own home.  At the time I was sure I didnt hit my head and apart from being a bit embarassed by it all, I decided I was ok to go to work.  Only problem was, my head wasnt as sure as I was and within an our I started to feel sick and headachy.  It just kept getting worse to the point that two hours later when one of the kids asked me to write a word for her, I realised I was only writing symbols despite the fact I thought I was really writing the word.  Thats kinda when I knew I had to see the doctors!  Foirtunately for me it was only a concussion and nothing worse.

Of course, Ive been running around like a headless chook all week because I've been re-doing my art room!!  Its actually turned out really nice to look at and smells so much better because once the room was empty, I cleaned everything!  I chucked out all the old curtains and got Mattt to install a much more modern system of roller blinds and lace curtains so that I can let in as much natural light in as possible!  I took some photos to share ...

I now have all my major things stored in a long shelving system just behind my desk so that they are all together and in easy access to work with!

This is the view over my desk - Matt took me to this car tool shop awhile ago and while I grissled A LOT, I managed to find this two amazing tool boxes that I now use to store all my tools and mediums in.  The best part of them is that they are ..

Finally, I had to share my new lace curtains.  I saw them hanging in my local drapery shop and absolutely fell in love with them!  Of course at the time I didnt realise quite how much work they would actually be in threading and tieing up all the ribbon - but I do so love the end result so I guess it was all worth it in the end!

I also wanted to share a card I made for last weekends Frantic Stamper Blog sketch.  I forgot completely to be organised in time for it but did end up getting a card done ...

Lastly, this morning we had our Easter Egg hunt.  sadly its now only Sarah who is interested - Emma came out to help hide the eggs but went very red faced and refused to play along with Sarah and the hunt.  I guess my kids are growing up!

The funniest moment was Sarah trying to find the last egg - she was so frustrated because she couldnt see it and I couldnt help but snap this photo of her standing right next to it without even realising it ...

Frantic Stamper Card

Its been a pretty hectic time lately.  I managed to go down bad with Tonsilitis which left me weak enough to allow a Flu to move on in and make itself at home!  Im finally over most of it but its een a long two weeks for me.

Now Sarah is home sick - lol - the doctor isnt sure whether she has school sores or Shingles - since neither of them completely fit the marks on her body.  Needless to say, now she scores the rest of the week off school as I finally go back!

Anyway, enough of the family drama - I have a card I want to share.  I created this card for this weeks sketch at the Frantic Stamper blog.

I began by stamping a scrap of paper with the Frantic Stamper Newsprint background stamp then blending over the top with Distress ink.  I finished off my card by adding a stamped Pen Nib image (also available at Frantic Stamper).

Vintage Card tutorial

I first began card making because of my obsessive love of vintage papers.  My problem was, I couldn’t bear to throw my scraps out – particularly if they were a vintage type of paper.  To combat the growing pile of scraps, I began making cards with them and moved on from there. 

Now-days I tend to use bright colourful papers but every so often I find a piece of vintage type paper that I just have to play with and go with it.  I was like this with this particular piece of paper and my card that I created.

 

The range of papers I used are from Bo Bunny and are called Et Cetera.  I used a piece called Cutouts  and literally cut sections out to create the base of my card.  The first piece was the main shield section which I adhered to the front of a Kraft card base.

 

Next I cut out the circle-ish shape with the zig-zagged edges.  I also cut out the centre for dimension and adhered it all to the centre of my card using foam tape.

 

I then put this aside and cut the thank you tag from the remaining patterned paper.  Once it was cut out, I curled the bottom of it around a pen so that it curled under then adhered the curled edged to my card and tied the other end around the circle section with twine.

 

Next, I added a satin bow just above the tag.

Finally I adhered a prima flower to the centre of my card, some glitter to the stems and couple of Petaloo strands.

Frantic Stamper Card

I can't believe its sunday already and the weekend is almost over!  What a rush it has been for me... from a cocktails party on the friday night a a very special day yesterday for my 17th wedding anniversary!  

I have some work to do yet today, ready for my week at work but before I do I wanted to pop in and share a caard I made last weekend for the Frantic Stamper blog -

Amazingly, this card took me quite a bit of work to do despite it looking so simple.  Part of it was that I couldnt find the exact patterned paper I wanted so I ended up using a plain post paper (From the Kaisercraft Vintage findings range) which I coloured over with a blending sponge and a couple of Distress inkpads.  

The hardest part though was the tree!  I wanted to soot stamp it rather than just stamp it BUT i kept trying to rush the process and burnt quite a few trees!!

PS I am very excited, just found out my new Ipod has arrived in Sydney and will be in my hands in a few short days!!  I bought a new Nano with the intention of getting out and walking more for the extra exercise!!

Je T'aime Card

I recently created this cute card that featured a colored Magnolia stamped image. Here is the image colored in and before I started cutting into it - 

I really wanted to show my image like this first because it is such a beautiful stamp.  If you also like it, it is from the Frantic Stamper line of stamps found here.

From the image, I only used a centre section of it to create this card -

I used papers from a Kaisercraft range and some flowers from left over Prima packs.  My challenge this year is to get in and really use my leftover bits - from leftover card scraps to the remaining bits left in a pack!  I even made a box that sits on my desk and is filled with those bits.  I always look there now first for something to use before trying out the drawer of new things!  So far its working!

Cards!!

Its been a bit frenetic with work going back partially this week.. two days that zi turned into three because I just needed extra set up time!

So, because of this I never quite made it back to my blog to update but  I would love to share the card I created for  last weekends sketch on the Frantic Stamper blog.  Here is my take of the sketch -

frantic Stamper Card

So, before I begin ... I have a secret confession to make!!  I have this amusing quirk where I will pick up anything on the ground that looks interesting.  I mean not anything thats gross or unhealthy but if it looks interesting and unique and no one wants it then chances are I'm going to pocket it for my crafting.

With that said, I went with Matt earlier this week to get his car washed at one of the Car Wash Bars and there were these peices of ripped up nylon netting in the drains.  I loved the way they looked against the concrete  and so they came home with me.  Why am I sharing this?  Well the card I'm about to share features a piece of this very same netting.

Here it is..

This card starts off as a long strip of card that is folded and trimmed until it becomes this overhanging diamond card.  Here is a close up of the front ...

Along with that awesome piece of 'found' net, I also used one of the beautiful Frantic Stamper stamps to complete my card.

If you like the idea of this design, it can easily be created by following this template with a piece of 5 inch by 12 inch card.

Along the width, measure 3 inches and 6 inches in from the left and score.  Mark the top and bottom at the 9 inch marks.

Finally, diagonal lines as shown in the template and cut away the waste (shown in black).  fold along all the scored lines with the diagonal lines towards you and the vertical lines away from you.
